Who I Am

I’m a journalist and science writer with experience covering research, community stories, and human-interest reporting. I write about Indigenous communities, migration, human rights, science, mental health, and climate, drawing on my Guatemalan heritage and lived experience to inform my storytelling.

I hold a master’s degree in mass communications and a bachelor’s degree in film and video production. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Outside of work, I volunteer as a bilingual language tutor and translator for East Bay Sanctuary Covenant, an immigrant legal resource center in Berkeley, and founded Quietly Queer, an LGBTQ+ group in Oakland centering small group social connection. I enjoy biking, reading ethnographies, and learning about the history of places I visit while traveling.
